Kiev’s forces have lost an estimated 315 people, with over 100 killed, during the attempted incursion, Russia’s army chief reported
Kiev’s attempted incursion into Russia’s Kursk region has been halted and Ukrainian forces have lost over 300 troops, the chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, reported on Wednesday.
Reporting to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Gerasimov stated that border security services, with the help of reinforcement units, air strikes, missile forces and artillery fire, have successfully managed to stop Ukraine’s advance deep into the territory of Kursk Region.
The army chief added that Kiev’s forces suffered 315 casualties during the failed incursion, with at least 100 people killed and 215 wounded. They also lost a total of 54 armored vehicles, including seven tanks, Gerasimov said.
He reported that initially, Ukraine launched the attack at 5:30am on Tuesday with a force numbering up to a thousand, with the goal of taking over the Sudzhinsky district of Kursk Region.
Gerasimov insisted that Russia’s counter-operation against the Ukrainian attackers will end with the total defeat of the enemy forces, who will be pushed out beyond Russia’s borders.
Previously, commenting on Tuesday’s attack, Vladimir Putin stated that the incursion was yet another large-scale provocation undertaken by the Kiev regime, which he said has again resorted to indiscriminately targeting civilians.
